About the initiative

America's one true original art form, Jazz, was founded by black culture and created by the black community. Yet, in the USA, Minorities, Women, and the LGBTQ+ community continue to be underrepresented in jazz education. In response, the Jazz Lesson Videos Diversity and Inclusion Scholarship Awards aims to encourage inclusion by offering financial assistance to the jazz studies of three students from diverse backgrounds throughout the USA.

We will be awarding each musician a $500 scholarship that can be distributed, however they choose, towards their jazz education. We hope that through this scholarship, we can provide support and financial aid to aspiring musicians from diverse backgrounds and foster an environment that values, respects and celebrates the diverse identities in the jazz community.

Who is eligible

Individuals under the age of 25 residing in the USA who are from groups currently underrepresented in jazz education. Groups including, but not limited to: Women, African-American/Black, Latino, Asian, Pacific Islander, Native American, LGBTQ+ and people with disabilities.
